Bedding:
Cage Liners -
This is what we use. These are cheap, easy to clean, and non-allergenic. Need to be sure to wash at least once a week (every 3 days
is best). Please see our
Accessories page for information.
Pine or Aspen Shavings -
This is easy to clean out of the cage once a week. Hedgehogs enjoy burrowing in it, so it can be a bit messy. You, or your hedgehog, could be allergic to the shavings. Never use cedar or anything that contains armoatic oils. These can cause respiratory problems.
Shredded Newspaper -
Inexpensive. Hedgehogs love to burrow in it. This is not as absorbant, and can attract mites.
Hedgie Bags -
These are wonderful. They sleep and burrow in it. They especially help keep the hedgehog warm and they feel safe. Make
sure there are no loose threads or unfinished edges, as hedgehogs can get caught in it. Please see our
